If you are a gardener, you experiment. Period. If you don’t experiment, you are not a true gardener (I am joking). This is one of those experiments… growing sweet potatoes in a container of wood chips. The wood chips are free (from ChipDrop.com) and I have plenty to spare…plus I saw this on YouTube so it must be true (another joke). I can see how it “could” work, so I will try it. I had some extra sweet potato slips I had started myself so I placed those in these large nursery containers and 3 different recipes of soil. 1) 50% chips / 50% leaves, 2) 100% chips (all sizes), 3) 100% chips (sifted to only small)
Once I harvest the potatoes, I will add that photo to this page to show you how it went. I have grown sweet potatoes and white potatoes in containers before, but with soil, not chips only so we shall see.
